Target Headquarters Light Show
The Target Headquarters building on Nicollet Mall in downtown Minneapolis seems to have recently upgraded or replaced their light panels they have had on the upper floors of their office tower. Previously the light show was a very basic pattern of lights that really did not change much at all. Recently, the new patterns they are able to display are significantly more dynamic and colorful – they can display images which are very fluid and rapidly changing patterns or images. Unfortunately they don’t seem to have these lights turned on every night as they did with the old system. I’m not sure if they are still testing them or what is going on – but when they do turn them on it is amazing to watch – huge improvement over the previous lights.
Tonight I captured a few of the images and patterns they displayed – taken with the Nikon D3s, 300mm lens – from the balcony of my condo in Loring Park.
On May 17, 2011 Fox 9 News did a story about the new lights and featured my photos as well as an interview of me. Click Here to watch the video.
On June 6, 2011 WCCO Channel 4 did a story on the new lights and also displayed some of my images as part of the story.
